How it works

From the galley to the fleet office: how a GalleyList order moves

Two doors, one order. Here is each step, who does it, and what they see.

The workflow

Seven steps, boat and office

This is the flow as it exists in the app today.

  1. Office

    Set up the fleet

The office adds its boats, loads the grocery catalog with prices and unit notes, sets a weekly budget per boat, and records its grocery provider.

  2. Boat

    Captain signs in

On the Boat tab of the sign-in screen, the captain picks the boat name and signs in. The current week's order opens.

  3. Boat

    Build the order

Search or browse by category and tap plus or minus. The subtotal and remaining budget update with every tap, and the draft saves automatically.

  4. Boat

    Send to office

When ready, the captain taps Send to office and confirms. The order is then locked on the boat while the office has it.

  5. Office

    Review

The office opens the order. If something needs to change, it is sent back with a note explaining what.

  6. Boat

    Fix and send again

A returned order shows the office note at the top. The captain adjusts quantities and taps Send again.

  7. Office

    Report on purchasing

Benny reporting gives a view of fleet purchasing across orders.

Order states the captain sees

An order is a draft while being built. Once sent, it is with the office and read-only on the boat. If the office returns it, it becomes editable again with the note shown.

Prices that are not set yet

Catalog items without a price show as TBD. They can still be ordered, and the total notes that TBD items are not counted.

Built around your fleet

Customizable to your company

GalleyList is set up with your own fleet details, not a generic list. Owner and office tools support these company-specific settings:

  • Your boat namesEach boat in your fleet signs in under its own name and boat number.
  • Your grocery catalogThe office loads the items, categories, unit notes, and prices boats order from.
  • Your boat budgetsSet a weekly budget per boat. Captains see what is left as they order.
  • Your grocery partnerThe office records which grocer your company orders through.
  • Your assistant knowledgeCompany knowledge for the assistant is kept separate for each company.
